ASSESSMENT - Case Analysis Report

Learning Outcomes

a) Explore the global and local environment and trends and evaluate an organisations market position.

b) Discuss how revenue management is influenced by supply and demand forecasting and revenue management theories.

Context:

Identifying how organisations in the Hospitality and Tourism industry are positioned in the market and against competitors is critical for the formation of successful product Distribution Strategies.

Good Revenue Management strategy is underpinned by the ability to understand opportunities within the market and against competitors and is influenced by Supply and Demand Forecasting and Revenue Management theories.

This assessment is aimed at consolidating knowledge from Modules 1, 2 & 3. It supports students in developing their skills in research and knowledge of the Distribution Systems and Revenue Management in Tourism and Hospitality Industries.

Instructions:

Create a Case Analysis Report on an organisation in the Tourism and Hospitality Industries.

Students can opt to base their Case Analysis Report on one of the below examples or any organisation within the Hotel or Airline industry:

* Hotels

- The Hilton Hotel Sydney or

- Park Hyatt Sydney

* Airlines

- Jetstar Airlines Australia or

- Virgin Airlines Australia

If student decides to choose an organisation that is not listed above please advise your facilitator and gain approval before proceeding with the Assessment.

To successfully complete Assessment 1- Case Analysis Report, each of the following aspects of your chosen organisation must be addressed:

1. A brief overview of the organization and its position in the market.

2. A competitor analysis- identifying a minimum of two (2) competitors.

3. A SWOT analysis on the organisation.

4. Two (2) Yield or Revenue Management strategies that could be, or are used, by the business to overcome one of the highlighted threats or weaknesses.

5. A detailed overview of what potential distribution channels this organization may use and why.
