Assignment Part 1: Calculate the total cost of statutory requirements.
Using the project documentation and the information listed in the appendices, calculate the cost of the following for the build:
i) WorkCover
ii) EPA permits
iii) Building permits
iv) Waste management
v) Site facilities, including a minimum of toilets, office, and meal area.
You will need to prepare an itemised spreadsheet that explains the cost of each, any quantities required (as appropriate), and a total for these costs.
Assignment Part 2: Estimate the cost of site preparations and present in the form of an Excel spreadsheet.
Create an estimate for the costs of preparing the site so that building may begin. Your spreadsheet must show the following components:
i) Heavy equipment requirements, including earthmovers and trucks
ii) Labour costs for levelling the block: including number of workers, average hourly rate, and total labour costs
iii) Apply overhead recovery margins of 15% to each subtotal (plant and labour)
Your spreadsheet must be itemised so that the price of each cost is listed, the 15% overhead recovery is applied, subtotals are listed, and a grand total is listed.
Assignment Part 3: Prepare an estimate of the labour costs associated with framing.
With reference to the project documentation provided in the appendices, create a spreadsheet that shows the cost of labour for the framing of the ground floor of the build. Ensure that you include:
i) An estimate of how many employees will be required
ii) The approximate amount of hours that each employee will be required for (assuming that the work day is 8 hours long)
iii) The average rate that the employees would be paid
iv) The total cost of labour for the framing
It is your responsibility to ensure that each of these can be clearly interpreted from your spreadsheet.
Assignment Part 4: Produce an estimate of the cost of sanitary ware for the building project.
Produce an estimate for the cost of sanitary ware (showers, baths, sinks, toilets but additional tap ware) required for the home, using the plans and drawings provided in the appendices. You will need to produce a document that shows:
i) The list of materials required
ii) The quantities of each material
iii) Estimate the unit price of each item
iv) Prices from a minimum of 2 suppliers
The prices do not need to all be available from the same 2 suppliers; however you must have a price from any 2 different suppliers. You will also need to ensure that your spreadsheet is itemised, and that others will be able to understand.
