Assignment 1: Identify and treat risks relevant to the site, via a written report. (Maximum of 750 words)
In order to prevent the risks from affecting the construction site, create a report for management that highlights potential risks and hazards of this build.
In order to do this, you will need to complete the following:
Question a) Identify a minimum of 5 risks and/or hazards related to the project, ensuring that you consider multiple tasks that will need to be performed on-site
Question b) Prioritise the risks in order of most affect to least affect, using a qualitative method
Question c) Select the three risks with the most affect, and prepare a site safety plan to manage their impact
Assignment 2: Perform an inspection and assess OHS compliance. Please note: that the details for this Assignment continue onto the adjoining page.(Maximum of 1000 words)
Conduct an inspection of the workplace in the Dandenong campus, and complete the inspection checklist provided. Using the information that you collect, perform research and determine whether the site is compliant with legislative requirements and the National Construction Code.
The report must include:
• Property information - including the address, number of storeys, construction type (what is the exterior made of?)
• Observations of the site - what hazards did you observe?
• Risk rating for the hazard - you must show the ratings that you are using, and the matrix so that the scale and meaning of different results on the scale are clear to both you and the assessor. (You may use the same method as Assignment 1, as long as it is relative to your inspection)
• Risk treatments - how can the hazard be fixed?
• Suggestions for improvement - is there any way that the hazard can be prevented from occurring again?
You may use your risk documentation from Assignment 1 to complete this Assignment.
Present and justify your findings via an inspection report addressed to your line manager. The inspection report must be no more than 1000 words.
Assignment 3: Create a site induction kit. (Maximum of 750 words)
Based on your findings in your inspection report (see Assignment 2), create a site induction kit that will introduce the risks associated with the build, and the recommended risk treatments that the company will utilize (as detailed in Assignment 1). You may add additional information if new risks have been identified.
Consider legislative and regulative requirements, along with industry best practice, to assist you with this task. You will need to ensure that you have considered all of the employees and subcontractors who will be working on-site and the different aspects of their occupations.
Your kit should not exceed 750 words.
Assignment 4: Meet with management to have the site induction kit approved for implementation.
This task is comprised of two parts:
Question a) You need to deliver the presentation to the operations manager (the assessor) and other employees (your classmates) about your site induction kit, and the companies OHS policies and procedures.
Question b) To review the effectiveness of your site induction, you will need to prepare a questionnaire for staff to provide feedback on your presentation. This questionnaire should contain a minimum of 5 questions that review your site induction kit.
