You are the newly appointed operations team leader in a small clothing manufacturing company. One of your tasks is to hire casual machine operators on a weekly basis from a pool of competent operators on stand-by (i.e. waiting to be called). Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing rules, there is only one operator on stand-by, and he is not vaccinated against COVID-19. This morning, the rostered operator phoned to say that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been advised to isolate himself for two weeks. In addition, there are many orders due for fulfilment in two days.
