Question

Patient presents to the ED with a BAL of 256. Patient was in ED for 10 hours. Patient is a 46-year-old male with past admission to hospital. Patient has history of ICU admission and seizures. Patient reports drinking 1 pint of vodka and 12 beers daily for the past 8 years. Patient is resting calmly on cart. Patient is waiting to be admitted to 5WA for medical stabilization related to alcohol withdrawals. Patient does not have any allergies or prescription medications. Patient does have a history of atrial fibrillation. Patient has been noncompliant with treatment in the past. Upon admission to 5WA, RN assesses patient and has found patient visibility, sweating, reporting feeling nauseous, and fine tremor with arms extended and increased anxiety. During admission patient disclosed being on 100mg of methadone and is currently connected to methadone clinic near their home. Patient reports last dose was day of admission.
