Assignment Description
To complete this assignment, select one of the following two options, and complete the requirements for your selected option.
Option 1: Multiple Regression
1. Using SCF's SCF2010.sav, you will run a statistical multiple regression on the total amount of financial assets held by households, FIN.
2. State a multiple regression research question, omnibus null, and alternative hypotheses, with FIN as the DV and the following IVs:
- AGE.
- HHSEX.
- MARRIED.
- EDUC.
- NOWN.
- MORT1.
- SAVED.
- WAGEINC.
3. Justify the assumption that you need to change any variable requiring a change in the SPSS MEASURE from discrete to scale.
4. Follow the general checklist for standard multiple regression from your course text (page 191), to screen the data, conduct multiple regression and summarize your results. Be sure to include the Model Summary table, the ANOVA Table, the Coefficients Table, and the Estimated Regression Model.
5. Submit no more than four double-spaced pages in Word, using cut and paste for any tables or figures from the SPSS analyses, edited to conform to APA style.
Option 2: MANOVA
1. Using GSSWEBMAIL.sav, given in the resources (with 25 variables and 2,041 cases created from a subset of the 2010 GSS), consider the DVs WWWHR and EMAILHR, and IVs GENERATION and SEX.
- State a research question, and the omnibus null and alternative hypotheses for a MANOVA.
- Transform the DV WWWHR with the Ln transformation and include its before and after figure (Histogram) in the report.
- Using the Checklist on page 156 of your text for conducting MANOVA, screen and statistically test for the assumptions.
- Conduct a MANOVA with post hoc tests, using SPSS GLM.
2. Provide a complete narrative of results in a maximum of five double-spaced pages in APA sixth edition format, in the order listed below:
- The main effects for each IV on the combined DV (test statistic, F ratio, p value, and effect size).
- The main effect for factor interaction (test statistic, F ratio, p value, and effect size).
- The univariate ANOVA results including main effects for each IV and DV (F ratio, p-value, and effect size).
- The post hoc results and your conclusions.
Submission Requirements
- Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
- APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to APA (6th ed.) style and formatting.
- Length: Five double-spaced, typed pages.
- Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
- Refer to the Model Application and Analyses I Assessment Scoring Guide to ensure that you meet the grading criteria for this assignment.
