Question

Jean Wilson of Richmond Hill, Georgia who had 2 telemedicine companies and a couple orthotic brace suppliers. The entities were used to bribe medical professionals into writing false scripts to Medicare for braces and prescriptions that were not needed. Many false documents were signed and sent into Medicare to support the reimbursements. She ended up getting $136 million from these false claims to Medicare. She has pleaded guilty to her charges which were conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and wire fraud. Due to these charges, she could face up to 20 years in prison and needs to pay up to 66 million dollars back to the IRS and Medicare. In my professional opinion I'm glad this person was caught. Taking advantage of any healthcare system is wrong. Especially when there are enough people out there that struggle to pay for things (in generally and medically) and this person just got greedy and thought that she would be able to get away with it, luckily, she did not.
