Karen Jarvis, a director of sales, Hal Boynton, president have responded to Kim’s request for a meeting. Kim has been with the company for over 15 years, compared to an average of 6 years of other employees. Kim has begun to feel underpaid as far her own living expenses begin to increase and is demanding a raise from Karen and Hal, arguing that she has to maintain her current lifestyle, she has seniority over everyone and, she always goes beyond the call of duty.

Could Kim have made a better case for a raise, and could she have presented her case differently? If you answered yes to either, what advice would you give her for improvement? Rationalize your advice. Assuming Kim took your advice, what effect would you expect her revised proposal to have on Kim and Hal.
