Sitting in front of you is a box; you cannot see iside the box. The box has a power cord that is plugged into a working wall socket. There is a wire coming out of the box; the end of the wire outside the box is exposed (not insulated) and is not connected to anything.

i. can there be current flowing in the wire while it is not connected to anything?

ii. could it be dangerous to touch the exposed end of the wire? why or why not?
