Question

JD is a 42-year-old Indian-American male who presents with the chief complaint, "I`ve had a really bad cough for about a week". HISTORY OF PRESENT ILLNESS JD presents with a cough and thick yellow sputum. He reports that his cough is worse at night. He has had a low-grade fever and sore throat for the past 6 days with shortness of breath and occasional noisy breathing. He complains of body aches and headache, and then says has been taking acetaminophen for fever and aches. JD has had a chronic intermittent productive cough for approximately 1 year with clear to white sputum. He had an appendectomy at age 20 years with no complications. JD has a 5-year history of mild hypertension, no coronary artery disease or diabetes mellitus. His childhood illnesses include chicken pox. His immunizations are current. JD has no other major medical problems.

REVIEW OF SYSTEMS General : Complains of low-grade fever and body aches. Skin: Denies rashes, lesions, and bruises. Ears: No ear infections since childhood, denies earache and problems hearing.
