Correlation Does Not Mean Causation

A major misconception about correlation is that it implies a causal relationship between two variables. In other words, one may be tempted to conclude that one variable causes changes in the other variable which may not be valid. A strong tendency to make this causal error occurs when the two variables seem to be related to each other.

Describe in a thoughtful manner an instance where you have seen or became of correlation being misinterpreted as causation?
