Most everyone at this point is familiar with the coronavirus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This virus does cause respiratory difficulties, but it is not the only virus or pathogen that causes respiratory infections. In this discussion, we will examine different types of infections that affect the respiratory system.

Pick a specific respiratory infection as the topic of your discussion. Try to pick an infection that is unique from your peers.

Discuss the pathogen that is responsible for causing the infection and how the infection is transmitted and acquired. Discuss other unique characteristics of the pathogen as applicable, such as the population of individuals that are most at risk for this type of infection.

Explain the cellular changes that occur from this type of infection. Include signs and symptoms of the infection that may result from these changes.

Discuss how the overall health of the individual could correlate with increased or decreased severity of the infection.
