This assignment requires that you select ONE of the books listed below to review and then respond to the following issues:
1.Provide a summary of this book, and in particular, be sure to clearly identify at least three major themes of the book. In your discussion, please provide examples from the book that illustrate the themes that you address in your summary. Also, when discussing these themes be sure to cite the page numbers in the book where this information is discussed.
2.Then, for each of these themes that you summarized please go to the empirical literature to determine if there is any support for these issues. You should plan to utilize the PsycInfo and Medline databases in your review. Please plan to discuss at least two studies for each of the themes that you identified. In your discussion, be sure to state what the hypothesis of the study was, how the hypothesis was tested, what the findings of the study were, and whether these findings support the book author's statement(s).
3.Discuss your reaction to this book. For instance, do you feel the author provides a convincing argument regarding the major themes of the text? Do you feel you will be able to use the information in this book to better understand others' behavior, and perhaps your own behavior? Please explain your responses.
4. Be prepared to provide an oral report of your book. In your oral report, provide a general summary of the book. Then, pick one of the major themes that you identified in the book to review to the class. Provide a clear description of the theme, including at least one quote from the book. Also, discuss one of the studies that you reported on in your paper that addresses this theme. In your review specify the hypothesis, the methodology, and the general findings of the study.
