Chapter 4 caught my eye as it covers values, ethics, and visions. I found the values section to be the most interesting. Values, whether we're talking about them in a certain profession, a specific country, or even a social class, are different amongst the individuals that make up these groups. This is because our values are based on our personal experiences, as Finn states, values are not provable truths (2020). If there are two people who have faced a near-death experience, one may choose to surround themselves with their family and stay at home while the other chooses to travel by himself after the incident. Depending on your own values, you may see one as more correct than the other. However, both are neither right nor wrong. These two people have just discovered their impermanence on this planet. One may now stress the importance of family, loyalty, and safety while the other has realized he needs to focus on his individualism and curiosity. Reading this chapter led me to evaluate my own values. They tend to be left-leaning and I focus more on my family as a unit rather than us just by ourselves.
