Please discuss the similarities and contrasts between the two e-reserve PDF materials, the Gilgamesh and Genesis Flood accounts. What conclusions can be drawn from reading these two ancient accounts of a Flood narrative, in terms of the civilizations that produced them? Why would these accounts be so similar? Why would they be different in some respects? In other words, what do these two accounts tell us about their respective cultures? Keep in mind, this is NOT a theological question exactly... in other words, I am not concerned with questions like "which one is the most accurate?" or "which one is the true account?" What I want to know is this - what can we learn about these cultures from the way they each depict this great catastrophe? Make sure to pay particular attention to the relationship between mankind and the deity/deities in both of these texts.
