Mack did some plumbing work in Nick's home. He did not have a license to do plumbing and therefore his contract was unenforceable under state law. Mack assigned his claim against Nick to Bill, who was a licensed plumber. Bill sued Nick for the amount due for Mack's work. Nick asserted the defense that the contract was unenforceable because of the lack of a license. Will this defense be good against Bill, the assignee? Explain. In an assignment, the rule is that any defense that would be good against the assignor is also good against the assignee. In this case, if the plumber had tried to enforce the contract, the lack of a license would be a good defense to the enforcement of the contract. Here the plumber assigned the contract. Is lack of a license a good defense against the assignee?
