One of the continuing challenges in compensation is the question of equal pay between men and women for comparable work. The original Equal Pay act was passed in 1963 with further amendments afterwards, and yet problems persist to this day. With the women's movement in the 1970s, the challenges of the "glass ceiling" that still exists today and currently with the MeToo movement gender rights are constantly in the news. Organizations are liable to ensure that there are no discriminatory practices that results in pay discrepancies based on gender-- many companies understand the problem, but few are willing to be proactive in correcting the problem. There have been a number of class action and similar lawsuits that highlights the problem. Research on this topic to familiarize yourself with the Act and how its regulations have been applied by the courts and government.
