The coursework element of assessment will focus on the contextual aspect of HRM, which is covered in the first half of the module.

The coursework consists of a 2,000-word assignment, based on one of the case studies included in the appendices at the end of this guide. Please select your case study, read the case study brief and base your assignment on the tasks identified at the end. Please refer to the assessment criteria and assessment level indicator provided along with the seminar guidance on case study analysis and assignment structure.

Learning outcomes for the coursework assignment

1. To demonstrate evidence of theoretical knowledge and an understanding of theoretical concepts relating to the topic area.

2. To interpret the information provided in the case study and to draw out the key issues, analysing them in relation to the academic theory.

3. To follow the specific question requirements included within the assessment brief

4. To show clear evidence of reading and research through referenced text; to provide clear and consistent referencing, identifying all sources utilized; to show awareness of current environmental conditions that influence and impact on the organization.

5. Using the information collected, to offer the organization realistic recommendations for consideration

6. To demonstrate appropriate presentation skills through the structure, layout and writing of the assignment.

7. To work to 10% of the assignment brief word count.
