What assumptions are there built in the topic area/questions?

Choosing Your Topic:
Suggestions for individual topics are often far too wide and so here is some additional guidance :
• You do not need to choose the topic that was allocated for the team presentation
• The team presentation topics were provided as a starter team topic only.
• Most of the suggested so far topics are far too wide and cannot be addressed sensibly in 400 words Your work must now be refined and made specific.

Consider contextualising your topic:
• E.g. in what country (ies) are you focussing on?
• What industry / sector?
• What size/type of company?
• Providing this context includes explaining why this specific topic is important.

Consider comparing and contrasting your topic:
• Can you turn your topic into a question that you can answer?
• Can you compare, for example, across countries or organisations?
• The topic should not be too narrow. There must be sufficient published research available. Are you sure there is?
• Your topic cannot be about a specific organisation or comparing specific organisations. It is not about a case study and you will not be able to access sufficient research about single organisations.

Be ready to be able to discuss the philosophical stance of the researchers you use ready for your individual presentations.

You need to be moving on from using general textbooks to journal articles which demonstrate that you have engaged with the recent research literature on your specific topic,

Be ready to indicate what you think the main issues / theories are and explain why. By indicating what the key themes/problems are you will be demonstrating that you have moved from mere description to demonstrating of what researchers have found to comparing and contrasting. In other words you need to demonstrate the required level of criticality necessary for a Masters Award.
