Sylvia needs to purchase a new car as her old one keeps breaking down. Sylvia must travel for over an hour every day to get to work where she is a CEO for a prestigious finance company, and as such she is very busy most days of the week between 8am to 7pm. This limits the amount of time she can spend shopping around for a new car. Sylvia is very keen to buy a car that is compact, has low mileage, is an automatic, and has voice recognition capabilities. However, Sylvia is not very knowledgeable about cars and will need to seek expert advice. Sylvia has a budget for the new car which is quite generous as she has plenty of discretionary income to spend on this purchase, but she is on a tight deadline as she needs a reliable car as soon as possible.
First, discuss which of the three types of consumer decision making apply best to Sylvia's purchase (cognitive, habitual, or affective) and why. Then, outline each stage of the decision-making process using Sylvia's situation as an example. Include a short description of each stage of the process with situational or contextual factors that apply to Sylvia.
