Assignment - Construction management plan

You are working at Eco Homes Construction Company as an assistant Construction Manager. Robert, the Eco Homes Managing Director, has been approached by a new client with a set of documents for the construction of a new house.

The new house is to be located at 15 (Lot 103) Saldanna Way, Sorrento. The site is currently a vacant block of land surrounded by established homes. It has a number of planning overlays and some will impact on site operations.

During your meeting with Robed, he assigns you a number of pre-construction planning activities.

Firstly, he would like a Construction Management Plan (CMP) that incorporates a Waste Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan. This needs to be done prior to commencement of construction to avoid creating adverse effects on the neighbourhood, its users, the existing environment and surroundings during construction. Robed believes that effective site planning is a key to delivering a quality project on time, on budget and safely. In your plan he wants you to identify all important stakeholders, identify strategies that take care of surrounding public concerns and any factors that impact the project outcomes and profit margin.

Your second task is to prepare accurate costs for the project preliminaries. You are required to present the costs in accordance with the ASMM. Robert's company owns a range of earth excavation machinery and undertaking any excavation works brings good profits to his company. It is important for Robert to know the amount of cut and fill that needs to happen on this site so that he can plan his resources well. You will advise Robert on the cut and fill quantities on this site and minimise the removal of earth from the construction site.
