Problem: The reciprocating radial roller follower of a plate cam is to rise 3 in with an octic curve in 180° of cam rotation, and return with an octic curve in the remaining 180°. Velocities and accelerations should be continuous throughout the motion.

a. Construct the follower motion diagram and its derivatives and plot them versus the cam angle.

b. If the roller radius is 0.375 in. and the prime-circle radius is 2 in., determine the cam profile for clockwise cam rotation.
