The contact transient example shown in given Figure illustrates electrons transferred from the metal gate to the p-type Si that is based on a specific set of assumptions on the material pro1cities of the metal and Si.

Construct the energy band for the case where electrons transfer in the opposite direction as Figure below i.e. from the p-type SI to the metal, during this contact transient.

Indicate the condition on work function and electron affinity for this to happen. Try this also for an n-type Si.
