“At one point (Jon) Krakauer interviewed three participants about a key moment in (their) fatal attempt to ascend Mount Everest. From those three people, you would expect that the real facts would emerge. Something else emerged instead: a reminder of our frailty. The three could not agree on the time of the event. Nor could they agree on precisely, or even approximately, what was said. And none agreed on who else was present at the time”.
