Quality improvement tools are standalone strategies or processes that can help you better understand, analyze, or communicate your Quality Improvement (QI) efforts. According to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, QI includes the processes and activities that determine quality policies, objectives, and responsibilities so that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken. A standard toolkit used by quality project management professionals who are responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling the issues related to quality in an organization including the seven basic quality tools, new seven quality control tools, designing for reliability, designing quality products and processes, and designing quality services.
Quality leads to customer satisfaction. The main objective in quality management is making sure that the project meets the needs that it was originally created to meet (nothing more, nothing less). In other words, to ensure the quality you must meet the needs of the stakeholder. Many of the techniques under the control quality process assume a working knowledge of statistical quality control, in particular the concepts of sampling and probability. The distinctions between attribute and variable sampling, precision and accuracy, and tolerance and control limits are fundamental components of working knowledge of statistical quality control.
As a Quality practitioner, you are required to conduct an experiment as guided in Figure 1.
All the evaluation and analysis must be applied to the knowledge of quality tools and methods stated in the questions in Part 1 and Part 2.
PART 1
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to enable the students to enhance their knowledge on the application of Basic Quality Tools and Methods, also familiar with all the quality tools.
Requirement:
You are required to conduct the analysis using necessary quality tools and methods and discuss the obtained results.
You are expected to do as following:
1. Design, record, and discuss your obtained data from experiment 1 into "Check Sheet".
2. Construct and discuss the process of making paper Airplanes in experiment 1 by using a "Process Mapping".
3. Analyze and discuss the process of making paper Airplanes in experiment 1 by using an "Arrow Diagram".
4. Analyze and discuss the results obtained from experiment 1 by using a "Histogram".
PART 2
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to enable the students to apply their knowledge on the application of Advanced Quality Tools and Methods to achieve high-quality standards.
Requirement:
As obtained results from Part 1, you are required to apply the reliability and quality product and process.
You are expected to do as following:
1. Analyze and discuss the possible failure meeting the longest flying time as experimented by using a "Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)".
2. Analyze and discuss the requirements by using "Quality Function Deployment (QFD)".
