At what speed (relative to the ship) must the gas leave the rocket to produce 60,000lb of thrust? If the rocket did not become lighter as it went up, how high would it go if traveling straight up from earth? A mass of 1 slug weighs 32 lb (since g = 32 ft/s^2.). The magnitude of thrust = Vex*dm/dt.
