Question

The Consolidations Appropriations Act of 2023 (CAA 2023) includes a new one-time requirement for DEA-registered practitioners to complete 8 hours of training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. This went into effect on June 27th, 2023. Please briefly review the CAA 2023. Look where allocations are going. Not just healthcare, but other areas as well. These are all policies.

You will evaluate the new DEA policy using the CDC Approach to Evaluation. For example: In step 1, who are the stakeholders for this new policy? Who are the people affected by the policy? Who has to implement it? Step 2, what is the goal or plan for this policy? What does the policy actually do? Step 3, why do we need to evaluate this policy? Step 4, what data do you need to show that this policy is worth the stakeholders' time? Step 5, what claims can the policy or program make at this point? Step 6, how do you disseminate this to the stakeholders?
