Consider the ideal regenerative Rankine cycle for a power plant (shown below), where there is no heat loss or pressure drops in the piping, the turbine and pumps are isentropic, the heat loss in open feed water heater (FWH) can be neglected, there are no pressure drops in the boiler, condenser, and FWH, and the steam leaves the condenser and FWH as saturated liquid.

a) Sketch the T vs. s cycle/diagram for this ideal Rankine power plant (including the T vs. s bell-curve for water/steam and the exact values of P & v at each stage).

b) Sketch the P vs. v cycle/diagram for this ideal Rankine power plant (including the P vs. v bell-curve for water/steam and the exact values of P & v at each stage).

c) What is mass flow rate at stages 6 & 7?

d) How much heat input (to the boiler) is needed in 10 seconds?

e) What is the net rate of work output? (I suggest you first make a table of s, P, h, v, T, mass flow rate , & x for each stage of the cycle. You will need to use tables A4, A5, A6, & A7 in the appendix.)
