Part 1: Research Paper
In this last edition of the final project, you will compare and contrast three of the photographers whom you have previously reviewed. Your focus should be on the similarities and differences between them rather than on repeating your previous descriptions. Create a research paper (500 words minimum) in a Microsoft Word document that compares and contrasts three of the photographers whom you have reviewed as part of the Final Project series. Discuss how their works, photographic styles, influences, and techniques were different and similar. Find connections between photographs and photographic approaches and discuss whether they might have influenced one another.
Embed three images, one from each photographer, in your paper and comparatively critique the images using the describe, interpret, and evaluate method. Compare the techniques, subjects, composition, use of light, photographic styles, and concepts.
Assignment Step-by-Step Instructions
Part 2: Research Paper
Review your research and previous submissions and select three photographers whose works you will compare and contrast. Look up the photographers in your textbook, check for references in the Week 6 lectures, conduct thorough Internet searches, or visit your local library, as needed, to deepen your research and contextualize the images of the photographers.
Make notes in your own words while researching. Keep track of quotations and sources so that you can reference the information later.
Create an outline for your research paper and then fill out the details. Compose a written paper (500 words minimum) that analyzes the similarities and differences between the three photographers.
Embed one image from each photographer in the paper and critically compare the images in terms of techniques, styles, composition, and concepts.
