If someone could help me with Part 2, I included the set up for Part 1 for reference because it mentions it in part 2. Im trying to do part 1, Part 2 & 3 are describe only because we do not have access to the classroom, and Part 4.
Part 1. Connect the switch, the light bulb, the 1 Farad capacitor, and the power supply as in the circuit below. (used for reference only)
Part 2. Using the same configurations above, in place of the bulb, place one 50 Q resistor. Use the 1 Farad capacitor as the capacitor in the circuit.
Using the PASCO Voltage Probe, design an experiment to quantitatively observe how the potential difference across the resistor varies as a function of time for two processes: i) charging the capacitor, ii) discharging the capacitor.
In your notebook:
-Describe your experiments and your setup. Draw circuit diagrams. Explain what you're doing to measure and how you'll measure it.
-Conduct your experiment. Present your results: Plot graphs of V versus t for each process (2 graphs in total). Include sketches of your graphs on the whiteboard. Fit curves to these graphs and note the functions you obtain. Write these functions on the whiteboard.
-Discuss how the charging and discharging graphs are different from each other. In each process, what is the maximum voltage and when does it occur? Indicate these values on your plot on the whiteboard. Explain why.
-Based on your graphs in b), plot or sketch a graph of the charge on the capacitor as a function of time for each process. (One for charging, one for discharging.)
