The post starts here.,The short story I choose is named "The Lottery" which was written by Shirley Jackson. She was born in San Francisco but early moved to New York. She died at the early age of 48 years in 1965. However, she is behind more than 200 published stories and novels. Her writing style is defined by deep psychological horror and the dark side of human experiences. That is the reason that made me choose her story "The Lottery". Personally, I am a fan of suspense and horror movies, so I was curious to see how interesting this short story could be. Although I am not talking about the main character of the story, I would like to emphasize Mr. Summer who was the main character of the story. He basically drove the narrative and took it to a more peaceful chronicle. He took control of the situation and kept everyone calm. That's a valuable attribute in humans, which is why he made me choose him as my favorite character. I would say that the theme of this short story was the simplicity and complexity of human nature. Likewise, the conflict between peace and violence in society was significantly introduced in the story as well. Finally, the different gender roles in the society of the last century were also pointed out
