Assessment Task 1 - Project
Description:
You will be broken into a number of groups of roughly equal size for this assessment. Each group will be required to research material that enables them to accurately, and reasonably fully describe, one traditional and one non-traditional IT development Network, or as prescribed by your teacher.
You will complete:
• A softcopy of the material presented – might be PowerPoint, Word or other suitable package, and one printed copy.
Documentation:
Your documentation will be fully referenced with each book, article, web site or other source of your information.
The documentation and the presentation will cover:
• The name of the Network,
• A brief summary of the Network,
• A detailed description of the Network,
• The terminology associated with it,
• An example of the Network in use,
• The circumstances when it is a good Network to use
• The best references on the Network
Assessment 1 – Student Information
Scenario:
A state-wide manufacturer of refrigeration appliances, VICAT, has asked you to help build and configure a server virtualisation for their ICT system. You meet with a team of employees that includes the Financial Controller, IT Director, and several technicians. Unfortunately, none of VICAT professionals has any in-depth knowledge of building and configuring a server virtualisation.
With your involvement to build and configure a server virtualisation, the following benefits are expected:
1. Centralised storage of confidential corporate data
2. Centralised storage of user files
3. Centralised data backups
4. Centralised management of networked printers
5. Email services
Task 1:
Create a design that details assessment of the virtualisation to be implemented and organisational guidelines.
It should also include the following:
• existing server infrastructure,
• alternative virtualisation scenarios which includes risk analysis and comparisons, Proposed plan and resources required
• Obtaining approval for recommendations
• Confirm network operating system, server applications and server design with client.
• Identify product and vendor architecture and equipment specifications.
• Identify technology and resource within business requirements and budget.
Submit your design for approval in a word processing document with no more than 1500 words. Now that you have created your design, you are to implement the server virtualisation according to requirements. Follow the guidelines for installing, configuring, testing and maintaining the server. Before proceeding, outline OHS environmental requirements when accessing site after gaining approval from client.
Task 2
Create a detailed task list identifying breakdown of the logical stages and sequence of work required. Review hardware and software to ensure compatibility. Obtain all hardware required for server installation. Install the required operating system. Install additional tools or third-party software as required by the created design. Patch the operating system and applications to ensure maximum security and reliability.
Submit your project for approval in a word processing document with no more than 1500 words.
Task 3
Configure the server as required by technical requirements to ensure virtual server integration. Define the scope and applicability of the testing against technical requirements. Develop the test plan checklist while ensuring that it reference to resources and the impact to the network. Perform system testing according to test plan developed and record outcomes. Analyse the error report and make changes as required. Test required changes or additions and validate against specifications.
Document installation and integration procedures while following guidelines. Create and provide user documentation. Upon completion, notify client and obtain approval.
Submit your project for approval in a word processing document with no more than 1500 words.
The assessment should be done in the word processing document with a limit of 2500 words.
