Most patients in need of a kidney transplant are placed on a dialysis machine. There is some evidence to suggest that the longer patients remain on dialysis, the worse they fare following a transplant. The mean waiting time for a kidney transplant is five years (60 months). Suppose a random sample of kidney transplant patients was obtained, and the wait time (in months) was recorded for each. The data are given in the table below.
a. Find a 95% confidence interval for the true mean wait time for a kidney transplant.
b. Find a 95% confidence interval for the true variance in wait time for a kidney transplant.
c. Construct a normal probability plot for the wait-time data. Is there any evidence to suggest non-normality?
d. Is there any evidence to suggest that the waiting time is different from 60 months? Justify your answer.
