Case: You will be conducting a SWOT analysis on any nonprofit organization of your choosing (e.g., American Kennel Club, American Red Cross, Community Foundation of Monterey County, Monterey-Salinas Transit). It may be easier to select an organization you have some familiarity with, but this is not a requirement. It may also be fun to chat with someone who works for a nonprofit so you can better understand the organization. This will be a lot more useful than just simply creating fictitious responses.
Here's what you will need to do:
X: In a SWOT analysis on yourself. This will help you to get an idea of how to conduct one for a non-profit organization. This should be brief...literally 4 bullet points and a sentence will suffice (This section is not included in the page count, but is intended for practice).
Question 1. Select a nonprofit and write a brief description of the organization. If possible, include their mission and vision statement.
Question 2. Identify at least four different strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the organization. (This means you need four for each category.) For at least two of the statements, you need to include some type of relevant data. For instance, you might state that the organization has 400 volunteers or 16 satellite locations. These are referred to as data-linked. You do not have to include a source for this information.
Question 3. In a brief narrative below your SWOT, include your overall impression of the organization and provide at least two recommendations the organization may want to consider to address the weaknesses and/or threats you identified.
Your assignment should be between two-three pages in length. This is more of a report, so feel free to make it a bit fancy.
