Assessment Task 1- Research Report
This assessment requires you to take on the role of a HR Manager in your training organisation.
You are required to complete a research report on the development and analysis of diversity and inclusion strategy for your training organisation.
During the preparation of the research report, you will be required to:
• Consult a range of internal stakeholders to identify the training organisation's policies and procedures relating to diversity and inclusion strategy development.
• Conduct online research to develop procedures for diversity and inclusion.
Note: The purpose of this research report to participate and carry out workplace-related activities and tasks, using your training organisation as an example of existing workplace and workplace personnel such as trainers/assessors and other nominated individuals by them as the stakeholders required to complete this assessment task.
The research report should be based on the information provided in the scenario and description sections.
Scenario
To be a sustainable training organisation, all training organisations must understand the importance of diversity and inclusion strategythat sets out the workforce capabilities, skills and competencies the organisation needs.
The workforce capabilities, skills and competencies are assessed based on the following factors:
• Internal environment.
• External environment
• Training organisation's strategy.
To foster a culture that values individual differences while treating all workers fairly and providing equal opportunities for development and advancement, the management wants to improve the existing diversity and inclusion strategy.
They want the HR Manager to develop a research report on the development of diversity and inclusion strategy to use it as a baseline for the development of the training organisation's diversity and inclusion strategy.
As an HR Manager, your job role requires you to:
• Assess the workforce capabilities, skills and competencies the training organisation needs.
• Ensure that the regulatory requirements that the training organisation must comply with during the development of diversity and inclusion strategy.
• Evaluate the existing diversity and inclusion strategy used at the training organisation.
• Analyse the impact of the development of diversity and inclusion strategy.
• Research and assess workforce trends that affect the workforce planning methodologies.
• Review and examine organisational policies that promote the leveraging of diversity and inclusion strategy.
Description of the activity:
This activity requires the student to complete a research report on the development and analysis of diversity and inclusion strategy for your training organisation.
You will take on the role of the HR Manager at your training organisation.
Your report must follow the below-given guidelines:
• The report must be prepared using ‘Template 1' provided. The word limit to complete the report is 1500-1800 words.
• Start with an introduction, then move on to supporting body paragraphs. Write a conclusion and cite your sources.
• You must only use authentic and verifiable information.
• The report should be presented in the provided format.
• Proofread it.
• Always make sure to run your ideas by your trainer/assessor to make sure that it is okay that you approach the report in this way.
• Your report must contain original content and should not be a "copy" of someone else's work.
• You must use Harvard style referencing in the report.
To prepare the report, you must use the templates attached and follow the steps given below:
• Step 1: Assess the training organisation's existing diversity and inclusion practices.
o Consult the training organisation's internal stakeholders, such as your trainer/assessor, and assess the training organisation's existing diversity and inclusion practices.
o Provide an overview of thetraining organisation's existing diversity and inclusion practices.
• Step 2: Conduct online research and identify regulatory requirements that the HR Manager (You) must comply with during your training organisation's diversity and inclusion strategy development.
o Assess the training organisation's operations.
o Discuss the regulatory requirements that the HR Manager (You) must comply with during your training organisation's diversity and inclusion strategy development.
o Assess the need for leveraging diversity within the training organisation.
o Discuss the need for policies that promote the leveraging of diversity.
o Discuss the organisational strategies that promote the rationale for workforce diversity within the training organisation.
• Step 3: Conduct research and identify common planning methodologies.
o Assess the most common workforce trends affecting workforce planning methodologies.
o Document two (2) common workforce trends affecting workforce planning methodologies.
• Step 4: Assess the existing organisational diversity and inclusion strategy, conduct a SWOT analysis, and recommend changes to the design's organisational diversity and inclusion strategy.
o Consult with relevant internal stakeholders to identify organisational diversity and inclusion strategy design.
o Conduct a SWOT analysis on organisational diversity and inclusion strategy design.
o Recommend changes, including the addition of reviewing organisational practices for recruiting, training and promoting the staff based on the SWOT analysis conducted.
• Step 5: Assess and analyse the organisational practices, policies and strategies to support an organisational learning strategy based on the changes recommended in the previous step.
o Assess the outcomes of the SWOT analysis conducted in the previous step.
o Analyse and document the organisational practices, policies and strategies to support the change recommendations to organisational diversity and inclusion strategy
• Step 6: Analyse and examine issues associated with organisational diversity and inclusion strategy.
o Evaluate the existing issues associated with organisational diversity and inclusion strategy.
o Assess which issues can impact diversity based on the analysis of previous steps.
• Step 7: Develop the characteristics of diversity.
o Research and develop characteristics of diversity.
o Discuss the impact of cultural impact and ethnicity on diversity.
o Conduct research and identify the impact of age and ability on diversity.
o Identify the role of education and language in diversity.
o Mention the impact of sexual orientation. Religious belief on diversity.
o Analyse the regulatory requirements that the training organisation can use to monitor compliance with its diversity and inclusion strategy.
• Step 8: Analyse the policies and procedures that your training organisation would require to manage the development, implementation and review of diversity and inclusion strategy.
o Document three (3) policies and strategies to manage the development, implementation and review of diversity and inclusion strategy.
o Discuss the purpose of each policy and procedures.
The student must complete a research report on the development and analysis of diversity and inclusion strategy for your training organisation. Your report must contain all of the following:

Case study - Online Media Solutions
As part of your job role, you have the following job responsibilities:
• Examine organisational practices for hiring, training, and promoting employees.
• Examine data on employee turnover, workforce demographics, and local, regional, and international population demographics.
• Develop management strategies that value and leverage diversity and inclusion.
• Evaluate factors that influence current and future worker supply.
• Analyse the organisation's diversity opportunities.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of the diversity and inclusion strategy.
This assessment task requires the student to:
• Contribute to developing a diversity and inclusion strategy.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion strategy while implementation and recommend improvement.
In the course of the above, the student must:
• Examine and review organisational policies and procedures relevant to training and assessment.

The roles and their responsibilities: Relationships with stakeholders such as Operations Manager and Customer Service Manager
The assessment task requires you to communicate with a number of organisational stakeholders. The main roles applicable to the assessment task includes:
Role number 1: Operations Manager: The Operations Manager will:
• Assign a team to you to complete the project
• Assist you in understanding the task requirements
• Provide you information about job roles and responsibilities
• Supervise you completing the assessment task and requirements
Role number 2: Customer Service Manager: The Customer Service Manager is the student's co-worker or workfellow. Their job role and responsibilities are:
• Assist you in completing the project on time
• Participate in a healthy and open discussion
Note:
• The trainer/assessor will take on the role of Operations Manager.
• Each student will be assessed individually for all assessment activities.

To do so, you are required to complete the following parts:

Part A: Examine existing organisational practices for hiring, training, and promoting employees
This part of the activity requires you to evaluate existingorganisational practices for recruiting, training, and promoting staff (given in case study) and document the outcomes using ‘Template 2'.
To do so, you are required to:
• Step 1: Evaluate the existing practices for recruiting, training, and promoting staff against the following criteria:
o Whether the existing practices for recruiting, training, and promoting staff incorporate diversity into its practices.
o Whether the existing practices comply with the legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Step 2: Document the outcomes of the evaluation using Template 2.
Template 2: Examine existing organisational practices for hiring, training, and promoting employees
Part B: Examine existing data on employee turnover, workforce demographics, and local, regional, and international population demographics.
This part of the activity requires you to examine existing data on staff turnover, workforce demographics and local, regional and international population demographics
To do so, you are required to follow the steps given below:
• Step 1: Analyse the existing data on staff turnover and workforce demographics given in the case study and document using Template 3.
• Step 2: Research local, regional and international population demographics and document using Template 3.
• Step 3: Research data on average employee turnover ratio and workforce demographicsinAustralia and document using Template 3.
• Step 4: Compare and analyse the outcomes of step 1 (existing staff turnover and workforce demographics) against the average employee turnover ratio and workforce demographics researched in Step 3 and document the following using Template 3.
o Comparison of existing and average staff turnover and workforce demographics.
o Your evaluation of the outcomes and how the organisation can improve employee turnover ratio and workforce demographics.

Part C: Identify and evaluate factors that influence current and future worker supply.
