Project: Financial Forecasting, Projections, Scenario Planning & Modelling and Valuation Frameworks for start-ups & Scale-up of an Innovation Ecosystem

INNOVATION GLOBAL Project

To Assist and support INQ INNOVATION and its cohort of Startups and Scale-ups to establish frameworks to enable Financial Forecasting, Budget projections, Scenario Plans & Modelling and for Valuation purposes. The frameworks would require research and evaluation of Startup and Innovation Ecosystems across globally from US, Europe, Israel, India and broader Australian / New Zealand Ecosystem to come with Fit for purpose frameworks for Startups and Scale-ups at various stages from Early revenue through to rest of stages of growth. This project is also expected to provide the industry placement /project candidates very good insights into the Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems globally and leverage some of the best practices as part of the learning and practical implementation of some of these best practices.

Project goals and Objectives

The goals for this project include:

Establishing Best Practice Financial Forecasting, Projections and Valuation Frameworks and Provide Recommendations across various Start-up / Scale-up Stages based on assessment of global Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems.

The objectives for this project include:

a. Conduct Online Research on various Financial Forecasting, Budget projections, Plans and for Valuation models, Financial Analysis, Scenario Planning & Modeling and Comparison Portals and evaluate frameworks based on research on the best practices across Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems.

b. Present recommendations on Fit for Purpose Frameworks and Models for various Startups and Scale-up based on Growth Stages based on research.
c. Pilot and Validate some of these frameworks across 2-3 Startups and Scale-ups across a few industry sectors.
d. Conduct financial analysis of specific Startup / Scale-up businesses based on the marketing and growth strategy.
e. Provide support with Financial Forecasting, Budget Planning and Projections and enable a valuation framework for these companies.

b. Specific Details and connects with the start-ups and Scale-ups
c. Financial statements
d. Access to Online Databases and Cap Raise / Financial Analysis Portals
e. Access to Scenario Planning and Modelling Tools such as LivePlan
f. Management access for interviews
g. Excel spreadsheet
h. Online collaborative tools for writing, meeting, project management, digital marketing, data analytics, data visualisation and presentation

4. Desired Outcomes/Deliverables

a. Report with Recommendations and Frameworks / Tools for Start-ups and Scale-ups covering various Growth Stages
i. Financial Analysis & Budget Forecasting
ii. Scenario Planning and Modelling
iii. Valuation Models

b. Financial analysis, forecasts / projection and Modelling for 2 -3 start-ups / Scale-ups across different Industry and Growth Stages
i. Profit/loss forecasts
ii. Balance sheet forecasts
iii. Cash flow forecasts
iv. Financial modelling and scenario planning on Online Tools such as LivePlan
v. Valuation Model Frameworks applied based on the Company Growth Stages.
