Assessment
Students will audit their skills against band 2 of CIPD HR professional map and the core behaviours of the new CIPD Professional map and prepare a personal development plan to meet those requirements.
Assessment Task:
Based on your future HR aspirations, focus on the role of interest when considering this task.
- As future HR Professionals, certain skills are essential to achieve a graduate position. Conduct a SWOT analysis whereby you identify skills and knowledge required to be an effective HR professional in you chosen HR discipline.
After identifying the skills (based on your SWOT analysis) conduct a Personal Development Plan (PDP).
These points will help you address LO4 and LO5 of the module:
Where am I now?
- Identifying strengths
- Identifying weaknesses
- Identifying existing skills/qualifications
Where do I want to go?
Identifying future required skills/qualifications to become a HR consultant
- Identifying long term aims
How am I going to get there?
- Setting short-term goals
- Setting timeline
Please see below a sample of a Personal Development Plan. You can add as many rows as you wish under the columns within the word limit or you can create your own template. As you prepare your plan, you must apply Band 2 CIPD professional map.
HOW TO STRUCTURE:
1. Introduction
2. Define and reference PDP. Which is its purpose? SWOT analysis(in table or bullet point) Do not compare yet with CIPD
3. SMART= define and reference. Develop your SMART goals/ identify where I am now.
A) Identify existing skills/qualification Compare transition from Band 1 to Band 2, CIPD requirements. Pick from CIPD : 8 skills to develop (look at different categories: strategic, organizational, talent planning, learning and development, performance and rewards, and take some things from SERVICE DELIVERY & INFORMATION Don't need to base in all characteristics of CIPD; focus in most relevant for you, base in your SWOT analysis. And relevant with what are your goals
B) Identify future required skills/qualifications to become....What you can achieve? You are still processing?
C) Identify short term aims and the steps/strategies to achieve them
