Problem: A 72-year-old female, Betty, comes into your family medicine office with her son because she has seemed confused the past several months. She feels like she is "doing okay" most of the time but does admit that she is more forgetful than usual. Her son reports that when he goes to see her a few times a week, he has noticed that her house is not as clean as normal, there are dirty dishes in the sink most days, and once he found that her stove had been left on with nothing cooking on it. Betty reports that her father had dementia when he was older, and she is concerned she may be showing signs. As the nurse practitioner, you determine to conduct a Mini Mental Status Exam (MMSE) on your patient.
