Chlorine levels are significant for the safety of recreational pools. If the chlorine level falls below 100 ppm, the swimming pool is not considered safe for recreational swimming. Periodically throughout the week, the lifeguard will sample chlorine levels from the pool by testing an ounce of pool water. If the test shows insufficient chlorine levels, the pool is shutdown for the rest of the day while chlorine is added.
