It is clear that one of the main reasons why IT projects face difficulties, is because of a failure to understand that managing an IT project can include managing issues across other business disciplines. Taking this into account and using information derived from your 9 month project, design and draft a related research proposal. Ensure that the final proposal is suitable for discussion at Senior Management level.
Your proposal should include the following:
1. A conceptualization of one major problem the new IT programme may face; a clear research question or hypothesis and research objectives; a research strategy which includes a description and justification for the proposed data collection, analysis and interpretation methods and relevant statistical procedures.
2. In relation to the statistical elements of the first task you are required to state:
(a) Whether the statistics gathered will be descriptive and/or inferential. A clear explanation of both of these types of statistics is expected.
(b) What statistical analysis would be used, how results would be interpreted and written up accurately and comprehensively.
3. A section which indicates that your research is grounded in theory and that you, as Project Manager, have engaged in critical thinking when reading the literature and assessing research articles related to the selected issue.
4. An indication of any further areas of the project which may require future and new research.
