An effective selection system is important in ensuring 'fit' between employees and the organisation, also known as person-environment (P-E), person-organization (P-O), or person-job (P-J) fit in the academic literature. Low levels of fit, also known as 'misfit', can result in under-performance, lower quality relationships and job attitudes, and even early exit from an organisation. Evaluate the relationship between selection methods and 'fit' in an organisation, while considering the implications for job performance. Be sure to take a position and use theory and empirical academic evidence to support your claims, and when thinking about selection and fit, you may use the concepts of supplementary versus complementary fit among a person and a given job context.
