The in-floor radiant heating system is a common way to heat homes. There are two main designs: 1) electrical wires or 2) pipes of water are run throughout the underside of the floor/tiles. The electrical wires heat up when a current is applied. For the water system, water is usually boiled using natural gas and pumped through the pipes.

Using the concepts of heat transfer, explain how the in-floor heating system warms up our home. Start with the heat from the hot wire/pipe. How does the heat end up warming up the air in the home?
