Assignment:

A recycled theme is the hero's journey which is the struggle that the hero has to endure through life. Examples are Batman and Superman's storylines of losing their parents. Heros that are reluctant to except the role of the hero is another theme called refusal of the call. This theme was seen in Ironman, The Hulk and Superman. Supernatural aid is another common theme in heroism, this is when the hero has the assistance of a helper with their supernatural talents or direction on the new responsibilities, he has excepted becoming a hero. An example of this is Batman with Alfred the butler assisting him and helping Batman to keep the secret of his identity. Ironman and Nick Fury.

"These recycled themes help the audience relate the stories. "As you continue to reflect on the qualities of the hero's journey, you may wish to see where you see people in the world beyond the screen and outside the pages of a book, living out the qualities of the hero." per Realizeit.

The concept of the monomyth/Hero' Journey and the other recycled themes in the hero stories refute the mass culture theory d/t the mass culture theory is the transformation of society due to industrialization and capitalism. Many of the heroism themes have the audience to follow the hero transform throughout stages before he accepts his responsibilities.
