Assignment:
The Juvenile Justice System has been in the news every day and has sociological relevance. The treatment of juvenile offenders and the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs impact not only individual lives but also broader societal dynamics, including crime rates and public safety. Psychological factors such as trauma, mental health issues, and cognitive development intersect with sociological factors such as race, socioeconomic status, and community support systems, shaping the outcomes and experiences of young people within the juvenile justice system. Addressing these issues requires many approaches that considers both individual needs and systemic challenges. The individuals affected by this action are the juveniles and the communities to which they live. Other members of society like the elderly, vehicle owners, and just about everyone else are living in fear. I believe this focuses on power, status and privilege. I believe these children are angry at not getting anywhere in their young life and the not wanting or not having the intelligence to thrive in school. It's important to stay up on this because it deals with the safety of the whole society. We need a better system for our young people.
Next, in the news, was the Maryland Transportation Authority was giving free rides to commemorate Rosa Parks. By offering free rides in her honor, the MTA acknowledges her resistance against racial segregation and the broader struggle for social justice. This symbolic gesture highlights the ongoing societal conflicts surrounding racial discrimination and inequality, particularly low-income individuals who rely on public transportation. This can strengthen social bonds and encourage collective action to address ongoing social conflicts of the struggle against oppression, challenging power of dynamics and promotes social togetherness in effort to confront the systemic injustices. This affected the African American people that were allow to live but not as equal to the "white man". The outcome of her action paved the way for desegregation and equality for African American although some may think that to a certain extent they are still not equal. I would think that other members of society are content with this even if for the fact that it was a free ride day.
I believe that my events focus on Max Weber's concept of social stratification based on factors like class, status, and power.
