According to Piaget, preoperational children think in much 'different' ways than older children and adult. There are many terms you have learned in this chapter regarding the different types of thinking. Choose three of the following terms and provide an application example for each. Identity constancy- When my niece was three she was very excited to hand out candy to the "customers' (as she called them) on Halloween. The only problem with that is that she lives on a small cul de sac with only a few other children. In order to keep her happy, my family and I would throw on different outfits (a wig, a different coat, or cloak) and she had no idea that it was always us. When the night was over we came back in, as ourselves, and she sat and told us about all of the 'customers' she had seen that night! Clearly, she had yet to develop the concept of identity constancy.
