Tina administered 1 liter of sterile distilled water IV to a patient. The patient got worse after Tina's treatment. When blood was drawn, the supernatant above the packed rbcs was pink. The patient was then infused with a sucrose solution . ( the rbc membrane is impermeable to sucrose)
