Q1) Assume manufacturer of Advil, common headache remedy, just developed new formulation of drug that is claimed to be more effective. To estimate new drug, a sample of 200 present users is asked to try it. After one-month trial, 180 indicated new drug was more effective in relieving a headache. At the same time sample of 300 current Advil users is given present drug but told it is new formulation. From this group, 261 said it was the improvement. At.05 significance level can we conclude that new drug is more efficient?

Q2) Coffee manufacturer is interested in whether mean daily consumption of regular-coffee drinkers is less than that of decaffeinated-coffee drinkers. Suppose population standard deviation for those drinking regular coffee is 1.20 cups per day and 1.36 cups per day for those drinking decaffeinated coffee. Random sample of 50 regular-coffee drinkers illustrated a mean of 4.35 cups per day. Sample of 40 decaffeinated-coffee drinkers illustrated a mean of 5.84 cups per day. Use.01 significance level. Calculate the p-value.
