Diatomic oxygen gas flows in a steady state manner through a compressor. The flow properties at the entrance of the compressor are at P1=1 bar, T1=300 K and w1=5 m/s. The flow properties At the compressor exit are P2=5 bar, T2=500 K and w2=2 m/s. The geometrical cross section of the compressor at its entry is 1000 cm^2 and the rate of heat transferred from the compressor to its environment is 200 kJ/min. Calculate the mass flow rate and power needed to run the compressor while assuming that oxygen can be treated as an ideal gas and that the gas at the entrance and at the exit is in local equilibrium.
