An operations manager would like to estimate the average service time at a fast food restaurant. A random sample of 35 customers is selected. For this sample, the average service time is found to be 246 seconds with a standard deviation of 38 seconds. Assuming that service times are approximately normally distributed, we would like to construct a 90% confidence interval for the average time at this restaurant.

(a) State the numerical value of the appropriate multiple (z or t) that should be used here.

(b) Compute the margin of error of the confidence interval.

(c) State the confidence interval.

(d) The manager would like to claim that the average service time at the restaurant is less than 260 seconds on average. Can he make this claim? Is it less than 250 seconds?
