Aerial Banner Drag An aircraft is towing an aerial banner as illustrated in the figures below. In the following parts, assume that the flow over the banner remains laminar, so that the Blasius solution is valid. 1

a) Compute the drag force on the banner in configuration A at an airspeed of60mphat sea-level conditions. Comment on whether you think your answer is realistic.

b) Repeat the drag calculation in the previous part for configuration B. Comment on the difference in drag compared to configuration A.

c) Repeat the drag calculation on configurations A and B using an airspeed of120mph. How does the drag scale with airspeed?
